About Us

GMMPB practices weekly on Monday evenings at Vineyard Public School, on the corner of Windsor Rd and Bandon Rd, Vineyard, New South Wales.

The band is led by Drum Major Lachlan Watts, Pipe Major Barry Gray, and Drum Sergeant Michael Smith.

We currently field two competing bands in Grade 4A and Grade 4B, providing opportunities for both experienced and developing players.

  • Grade 4A: Pipe Major Barry Gray | Leading Side Drummer Mark Romer

  • Grade 4B: Leading Piper Iain McLennan | Leading Side Drummer Lachlan Watts

Our members regularly perform at parades, public events, corporate functions, concerts, and competitions across the region. The Juvenile program supports younger members as they build foundational pipe band skills.

The Governor Macquarie Memorial Pipe Band is aware that many more young people are interested in learning piping and drumming, and as such we partner closely with the Sydney School of Piping and Drumming to coordinate a professional teaching program for students, who can learn an instrument in a professional classroom environment and have opportunity to learn by playing alongside GMMPB members.

We always welcome people who are new to piping or drumming, and we are also keen to welcome experienced players interested in being members of a progressive band committed to improvement and development.

GMMPB sets no official age requirements, and our current members range from 9 to 75 years old.

If you are interested in joining the band as an experienced member, please contact us at info@gmmpb.com.au.

If you are interested in learning an instrument through our partnership with the Sydney School of Piping and Drumming, please contact Pipe Major Barry Gray directly on pmbarrygray@gmail.com
